No country can replace traditional energy sources just yet. So called green energy and renewables can't produce enough power to meet current demands cost effectively. These so called green or renewable energy sources are expensive to produce. More work needs to be done to make them more economical so that they can finally replace the mainstay but highly polluting energy sources being used today.
Remember all the hype about Ethanol back in the 1990's? Hype which fizzled out due to the adverse effect Ethanol production would have over the price and supply of essential grains which people need as food.
