大河口墓地是新发现的一处西周封国墓地，铜器铭文中的“霸伯”是这里的最高权力拥有者。“霸”是其国名，“霸”国不见于传世的文献记载。铭文资料显示，“霸”与晋、北燕、芮等国曾有往来。从埋葬习俗看，大河口墓地的头向、腰坑、殉狗、斜洞等习俗与横水墓地相似，车马坑的布局、无俯身葬、无殉人等现象又与天马—曲村墓地相似。在大河口墓地，商、周文化因素都比较明显，自身特色也很鲜明。墓葬时代横贯西周，晚期已进入春秋初年。大河口墓地的发现为研究西周分封制度和西周史提供了重要资料。
