3月26日，由俄罗斯海军太平洋舰队“光荣”级导弹巡洋舰“瓦良格”号(舷号011)、“无畏”级大型反潜舰“潘捷列耶夫海军上将”号(舷号：548)、“特里布茨海军上将”号(舷号：564)、“现代”级导弹驱逐舰“快速”号(舷号：715)、“克雷洛夫”号航天测量船、“额尔齐斯河”号医院船和2艘“信天翁”级反潜舰(舷号：323、350)、6艘“毒蜘蛛”级导弹快艇(舷号：921、924、937、946、954、978)以及2艘补给舰、1艘拖船组成的远海训练编队穿越宗谷海峡进入鄂霍次克海，日本海上自卫队的舰机对俄海军编队进行了跟踪监视。
