With this new reality comes new challenges.
Many students resuming their coursework are finding they don't have the technology capable of doing so effectively online. Others are unable to return to their family homes or live on their own due to space and financial constraints. Even more, those who rely on their part-time jobs to provide basic necessities like food and medicine, have seen their employment put on hold. And, worst of all, due to personal or family loss of employment, some are uncertain if they will return to RIT next semester.
Your support will provide these students with things like transportation for medical care, groceries, the technology needed for distance learning, and even an additional scholarship so a student can return to campus in the fall. And a small amount adds up…$25 covers a ride for medical care, $50 provides a student groceries for one to two weeks, and $400 purchases a laptop. Plus, an additional $2,500 scholarship could be the difference in a student's ability to resume classes next semester.
